Volunter in Costa Rica. Take care of a rancho or cook healthy meals and enjoy the beach!

I have been an expat living in Costa Rica since 2010 and I’ve been managing Marvista, our home since 2019. I look for a person or two to help me with the rancho. Join us!

Volunteer in Costa Rica – requirements & tasks

We are looking for a strong single or couple to live in the ranchito behind our ocean front rancho for caretaking, hosting, animal sitting and learning how to root into the land at a very magical, secluded property.

Optimally, we would love a couple who can do various tasks. We have a workshop with minimal woodworking tool and there are always project to be done to fix various hinges and boards that come off of the rancho with the ocean winds. There is also room for more creative projects.

Preparing healthy meals is of utmost importance, both to keep you healthy and also our guests who come in to rent the rancho or to stay for a private retreat. Lots of our guests are vegans, but not all. Some appreciate healthy fresh fish, that we get from the local pescaderia. We love a high vibe kitchen!!

We have maintenance and cleaning people who come in to prepare for guests. It would be great if you spoke Spanish, but it’s not completely necessary. This is a great place to practice and learn!

And, you must love (or at least like) dogs and be open to learning about training animals. Sometimes we care for fosters when there is a need that we can fill. There are 2 cats on the property and we are adding a chicken coup, so any knowledge or desire to learn on this side is great.

We will ask you to work for around 25 hours a week.

Volunteer in Costa Rica – what we offer

Our perfect caretakers/chefs will have a lodging in the ranchito behind the rancho. It has a small kitchenette, bedroom/bathroom and outdoor shower. We can negotiate an ppportunity to make extra money for extra work. We want our team to feel supported and love the space as much as we do.

There is no internet, but if you have an unlocked cell phone, the sim card with data will be provided for you, and there is a signal in the ranchito.

And most importantly, you’ll be able to enjoy the beauty of Costa Rica – spend time on the beach, chill or surf!
