Come and join us as a volunteer in Chiang Mai, Thailand. My name is Fai and I run a small language center and here we teach conversation skills.

We realize the importance of English and having fun while learning. Volunteer in Chiang Mai, Thailand headquarters is about 15 minutes drive from town so we have no tourists and very few foreigners.

The students have no opportunities to use English in conversation so we love for volunteers to come and help them practice speaking out loud with games and activities while learning new material.

Generally, the students’ level of spoken English is beginner or intermediate level. Some of them are developed by volunteers and reach an advanced level.

What we offer? To a volunteer in Chiang Mai

  1.  Teaching techniques. If you are already a teacher we can share our experiences.
  2. Exploring the local areas (hot springs, caves, mountains, markets, waterfalls) during free time.
  3. Eating local and traditional Thai food both at the school and around the area.
  4. Show volunteers how to cook by using different techniques. Some dishes I have taught before to volunteers are honey toast, green curry, shabu shabu, tom yum soup, pad Thai, papaya salad, etc.
  5. Meet local people. They are always eager to get to know volunteers.

Note: If you are not a native speaker but you have experience in teaching English or are confident that you can teach, you are still very welcome. We can offer guidance on what to teach and how to teach it if you need it.

If you are not a native speaker but you are confident to speak English we are welcome.

Teaching Details

‘The way it works is that most of the Skype lessons take place after dinner from 18:50 till 22:10 – so it’s 5 lessons 40 mins each. But volunteers don’t always have all 5, usually less. It depends on how many volunteers are there at a time. On average it’s 4 Skype’s in the evening and sometimes one or two Skype lessons earlier – between 15:00 and 18:00.’

What else?

‘The “rewards” for good work are very encouraging 🙂 If people work 3 weeks for them, they give them a free day trip to the Elephant Sanctuary or 5 days of free accommodation in Pai. If you work 4-5 weeks and you do a great job you will get both.
