Teach Buenos Aires: Tasks & Roles

Volunteers joining Teach Buenos Aires contribute approximately 15 hours each week to support English instruction across a variety of settings. These include the foundation’s centrally located school, community centres, and partner language institutes around the city. The role involves working alongside trained educators, assisting with classroom delivery, and leading conversation workshops. Volunteers often design and implement engaging English activities that meet the diverse needs of students from lower-income backgrounds. Sessions typically take place on weekday afternoons and Saturday mornings. Whether teaching in person or online, volunteers are expected to maintain a professional attitude, communicate effectively with staff, and uphold the supportive environment that defines the Teach Buenos Aires experience. A TEFL, CELTA, or equivalent qualification (in progress is acceptable), a personal laptop, and a minimum commitment of eight weeks are required. Applicants must also be eligible for a tourist visa to Argentina and complete a background check prior to arrival.

Teach Buenos Aires: Living & Getting There

As part of the Teach Buenos Aires programme, volunteers are accommodated in a beautiful historic residence in the heart of the city. The shared living space, certified for safety by local authorities, provides a comfortable and well-connected base for daily life and urban exploration. Each spacious room is shared with only two others of the same gender, and all utilities are included for a stress-free stay. Although meals are not provided, the central location places volunteers within walking distance of markets, cafes, and restaurants. Arrivals take place on Mondays (between 10 a.m. and noon), and departures are scheduled for Fridays (between noon and 3 p.m.). The nearest airport is Ministro Pistarini International Airport (EZE), offering convenient international access.

Teach Buenos Aires: What Else

A central component of the Teach Buenos Aires experience is Spanish language immersion. Volunteers participate in 20 hours of in-person Spanish lessons each week, held Monday to Friday and tailored to individual levels in small group settings. This linguistic training not only enhances daily communication but also strengthens cultural understanding and connection with the local community. While the classes require a separate fee, the funds directly support local Spanish instructors and help sustain the programme’s operations. Beyond the classroom, volunteers are encouraged to explore Buenos Aires’ diverse neighbourhoods and cultural offerings—from tango performances in San Telmo and art in La Boca to world-famous Argentine steak and Malbec wine in Palermo. Led by a dedicated female team, Teach Buenos Aires fosters a collaborative and inclusive environment where volunteers are supported throughout their journey. The result is more than a teaching placement—it’s a transformational experience rooted in language, learning, and community.
