Our volunteer programme offers a unique and enriching opportunity for those looking to volunteer in Gozo while contributing their time and skills to a welcoming boutique hotel. Designed to be mutually rewarding, the programme allows volunteers to support the daily running of the hotel while gaining valuable insights into the hospitality industry. Volunteers join us for a pre-arranged period, typically a minimum of four weeks, during which they become an integral part of our team, assisting with essential tasks such as breakfast preparation, service, and cleaning.
In exchange for their support, volunteers are provided with comfortable accommodation and a daily breakfast. There is also plenty of opportunity to explore the beauty and culture of Gozo during their stay. Volunteers work approximately five hours per day, six days a week, with one day off to relax and discover the island’s many attractions.
Volunteer in Gozo: Tasks & Roles
As a volunteer, your role is to ensure guests have a welcoming and enjoyable experience. Your primary duties include preparing and serving breakfast, maintaining a well-organised dining area, and interacting with guests in a friendly and professional manner. Engaging with visitors from different backgrounds can be an excellent way to learn about new cultures and build lasting connections.
Beyond breakfast service, you will also assist with general housekeeping duties. This includes keeping guest rooms, bathrooms, and communal spaces tidy and well-maintained, ensuring that all areas uphold the high cleanliness standards expected in a boutique hotel. Laundry tasks may also form part of your responsibilities, helping to keep linens fresh and inviting for guests.
Training and guidance are provided to ensure you feel confident and supported in your role. Your contributions directly enhance the overall guest experience, creating a warm and hospitable environment that makes their stay in Gozo memorable.
Volunteer in Gozo: Living & Getting There
We offer our volunteers a comfortable and welcoming place to stay during their time with us. Accommodation is in shared rooms, furnished with essential amenities, including comfortable bedding, storage space, and access to shared bathrooms. The living arrangements are designed to foster a friendly atmosphere, allowing volunteers to unwind and socialise in their downtime. In addition to accommodation, a daily breakfast is provided, and volunteers have access to shared areas where they can relax and connect with others.
The nearest airport is Malta International Airport (MLA). From there, volunteers can take the X1 bus to Ċirkewwa Ferry Terminal, a journey of approximately 1.5 hours. The Gozo Channel Ferry then takes around 25 minutes to reach Mgarr, Gozo. Upon arrival, a bus, taxi, or pre-arranged transfer will bring you to the hotel. For those preferring a more direct option, a taxi or private transfer service, including the ferry crossing, can be booked for a smoother journey.
Volunteer in Gozo: What Else
We expect volunteers to adhere to the hotel’s schedule, respect shared spaces, and communicate openly about any concerns or changes. A positive attitude, reliability, and teamwork are highly valued. While smoking is permitted only in designated areas, excessive noise should be avoided to ensure a pleasant environment for all guests. Volunteers must also respect guests’ privacy and take care of hotel property. Any adjustments to work schedules should be discussed in advance to maintain smooth operations.
Our boutique hotel prides itself on creating a warm and inclusive environment, where volunteers are treated with kindness and respect. We see our volunteers as part of our extended family and aim to provide a supportive and enjoyable experience. In return, we look forward to learning from the unique skills and perspectives each volunteer brings, fostering a meaningful cultural exchange during their stay.
