Volunteer at Rural French Campsite: Experience Life in France

Volunteer at a Campsite (France)

For the past 25 years, we’ve welcomed volunteers at our rural French campsite, offering a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and enjoy life in the heart of France. Whether you’re looking to volunteer at a rural French campsite to explore the industry, experience life in France, or simply enjoy an extended camping holiday, this is the perfect setting to immerse yourself in a peaceful, authentic French environment. Volunteers exchange a few hours of work for a camping pitch and full access to the site’s facilities.

Volunteer at a Rural French Campsite: Tasks & Roles

The tasks you’ll be involved in are varied and designed to maintain the smooth running of the campsite while also giving you ample free time to enjoy the surroundings. You will help with cleaning duties such as wiping down tables and chairs, sweeping the terrace and pool area, and maintaining the toilet block, which typically takes an hour when done with a partner. In the evenings, you’ll assist with serving food and clearing tables at the bar. General gardening is also part of the routine, including tasks like grass cutting, weeding, and hedge trimming. Work hours are flexible, and the amount of help required varies through the season, with a rota system in place to ensure balance. Despite the busy summer months, there’s always plenty of time to relax and explore.

Volunteer at a Rural French Campsite: Living & Getting There

Accommodation for volunteers is provided in the form of a free camping pitch with electricity and WiFi. You will need your own transport and camping equipment, such as a tent, caravan, or campervan. The campsite is located in a picturesque region of France, making it ideal for exploring local walking and cycling routes. The area is also well-positioned for visits to the Atlantic coast, the Pyrenees, and Dordogne. For those looking to fly in, the nearest airports are Bordeaux or Bergerac, with a cross-channel ferry also being a convenient option.

Volunteer at a Rural French Campsite: What Else

In addition to the main tasks, there are a few perks included in the exchange. You’ll receive a meal on quiz nights, which occur weekly from June to the end of August, and you’ll have free access to the campsite’s fishing facilities and swimming pool. Volunteers are encouraged to take part in the lively social activities, including quiz nights led by fellow campers. We strive to create an environment where helpers can enjoy their time with us, contributing to the campsite’s operation while also having the chance to explore the stunning surrounding countryside. If you’d like to hear more about the experience, we can connect you with past volunteers who are happy to share their stories.
