Are you yearning for an unforgettable Arctic escape? Come experience the magic of the Arctic at our charming farm in Lakselv!
Experience the Arctic adventure as a volunteer in Norway – requirements & tasks
We’re a family deeply connected to nature and animals, living amidst the wild beauty of the Arctic. Life on the farm is always full of activity and adventure, and we’d love to share it with you!
If you love dogs, being outside, and want to learn new skills while working with Greenlandic sled dogs, you’ll gain amazing memories and a strong bond with our pack. We’re looking for honest, friendly people who love big dogs and are comfortable handling meat.
Your days will be filled with caring for our amazing dogs, from feeding and grooming to enjoying outdoor adventures like biking, walking, skiing, and the unforgettable experience of mushing! You’ll also help keep the kennel and dog yard clean and well-maintained. Depending on the season, you might find yourself gardening or shovelling snow, and there are always plenty of other tasks around the farm to help with, like woodcutting, assisting in the forest, tending to the chickens, and even lending a hand with some light cleaning in the house.
We’re looking for creative, self-motivated people who love animals and are good at taking initiative. Whether you enjoy crafts or prefer working independently, we offer a great environment where you can express your creativity and contribute to our work.
Before you apply
Helping out on our ranch is physically demanding, especially during the harsh Arctic winters with their three months of polar night darkness. This isn’t a relaxing vacation; it’s about working hard on the ranch and with the animals.
Greenlandic dogs are big and powerful, so you’ll need some strength to handle them. It’s important you’re comfortable around dogs, as they’re beloved members of our family, and we love spending time with them.
In winter, it’s dark all day, while summer brings the magical midnight sun. You’ll be spending most of your time outdoors, so you need to be okay with all kinds of weather, even temperatures dropping below -20 degrees Celsius.
If you’re coming as a couple or with friends, there might be times when we need help in different places at once. This means you should be ready to work separately from your partner or friend if needed.
You’ll work for about 25 hours per week.
Experience the Arctic adventure as a volunteer in Norway – what we offer
You’ll stay in your own comfortable hut. It doesn’t have running water, but there are toilets and showers close by. The hut is modern and clean, with a 120 cm wide bed that’s good for one person or a couple.
You’ll work around 3 to 5 hours a day, and have weekends off to relax. You’re welcome to join us in our free time if you like. We’re in a rural area, so there are lots of chances to hike and enjoy nature. When you need to relax, you can sit by a bonfire near our river or head to the mountains for amazing views of the fjord.
We’ll provide food, but sometimes you might need to make your own meals because our days can be long and unpredictable.
