Volunteer & support organic farming in India – requirements & tasks
Escape to the foothills of the Kurungani Mountains and join our unique organic farm! Located in the village of Bodinayakannur, Theni District, our 21-acre property borders the Bodi West Hills Reserve Forest, offering breathtaking views and a trekking path to the 1600m high Bodimettu peak.
Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister, was so captivated by its beauty that he dubbed Bodinayakanur the “Kashmir of the South.”
We’re easily accessible by bus, just 60 km from Munnar.
Our farm has a diverse yield, including:
- 800 mango trees
- 700 coconut trees
- Gooseberry
- Moringa
- Pomegranate
- Custard apple
- Guava
- Cherry
But we’re more than just a farm – we’re dedicated to research! We’re currently conducting experiments in the ravines of our land to test the fertility, yield, and sustainability of various crops.
Typical tasks
Farming:
- Tending to our fruit trees and other crops
- Conducting research on various crops to test their viability in our unique environment
- Helping with harvest and post-harvest processing
Non-farming:
- Designing and building hydroponic systems (experience preferred)
- Constructing bamboo houses and structures
- Woodworking and metalworking for farm infrastructure
- General construction and maintenance (civil, electrical, plumbing)
- Repairing and maintaining farm equipment
- Assisting with the construction of a farmhouse
You will for for about 30 hours per week.

- Fully equipped workshop: our in-house workshop is stocked with all the necessary tools and equipment for woodworking, metalworking, and other projects. We also provide equipment support for research students and researchers conducting workshops related to energy conservation, sustainable materials, and more.
