This opportunity is ideal for young people interested in volunteer caring for horses while enjoying a peaceful rural lifestyle surrounded by nature. The host organisation welcomes adaptable individuals who would like to gain practical experience with horses and other animals while contributing to an association specialising in equine-assisted education and therapeutic riding.
The organisation provides a unique chance to live alongside horses and experience the connection between animals, people and the natural environment. The animals are cared for across around three hectares of pasture, where horses, goats and donkeys have space to thrive. The goats provide fresh milk and dairy products, while the donkeys support therapeutic riding sessions as part of the association’s work.
Volunteer Caring for Horses: Tasks & Roles
Volunteers take part in a range of daily activities focused on animal care, farm maintenance and supporting the therapeutic work carried out on the property. Those involved in volunteer caring for horses can help with feeding, grooming, training and general horse care, while also learning more about equine-assisted therapy.
Other tasks may include mucking out stables, mowing the meadows, making hay, milking goats and assisting with the restoration of the historic courtyard. Volunteers with riding experience may have the opportunity to go horse riding, while those who are new to riding can learn basic skills and build confidence around horses.
