Try volunteering in India – requirements & tasks

Natha Kendra, a community focused on traditional Indian sustainable living, is situated in the Anaikatti mountains near Coimbatore. We practice organic farming, raise cows, and build eco-friendly structures. We also offer classes in Yoga, Meditation, Astrology and other subjects.

Natha Kendra’s foundation lies in the spiritual practices of the Indian Nath-Yoga tradition. While joining in Yoga, Meditation, and ancient rituals is entirely your choice, we warmly welcome anyone curious to participate.

We have about 7 acres of land where we focus on eco-friendly building projects. We do everything from small wash basins to building new houses for our members. Volunteers can join in and learn skills like mud construction, plastering, and painting.

We also have a fruit garden, agricultural fields, and we’re working on a vegetable forest and herbal garden. There’s always tree planting and landscaping to do, so volunteers can get their hands dirty!

We take care of about 35 cows too. Volunteers can help give them baths and extra food. There are lots of general maintenance tasks and help is always welcome in the kitchen.

If you’re into social media or writing, we’d love your help with that too! We appreciate any kind of assistance and collaboration.

You will for for about 30 hours per week.

Additional Information

If you have any disabilities and need specific support as a volunteer, please let us know. We welcome volunteers year-round, but do keep in mind that April and May are our peak summer months, with temperatures sometimes reaching 40°C (104°F).

As a spiritual community, Natha Kendra follows a vegetarian diet and maintains a smoke- and alcohol-free environment on our premises. We respect individual choices, so guests are welcome to smoke or drink alcohol outside of our community grounds.

Try volunteering in India – what we offer

At Natha Kendra, we keep things simple when it comes to accommodation. We have two dormitories – one for women and one for men. You’ll sleep on mats on the floor, which is the traditional way in India. Our bathrooms are in a separate building and have Indian-style showers and toilets. We provide all your meals during your stay.
