Volunteer in Tonga – requirements & tasks
We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals who enjoy hands-on work to join our team on the beautiful island of ‘Eua in Tonga. You’ll be involved in a variety of tasks to help maintain our lodge and surrounding property, offering a diverse and rewarding experience. Here’s a closer look at what you can expect:
General Maintenance:
Play a key role in keeping our lodge running smoothly and looking its best. This includes:
- Performing basic repairs and upkeep tasks
- Cleaning and tidying communal areas used by guests and team members
- Organizing storage spaces to ensure efficient use of resources
- Maintaining the overall presentation of the property to create a welcoming environment
Building:
If you have an interest in construction or are eager to learn new skills, you can assist with ongoing building projects. This may include:
- Mixing and pouring concrete using a small mixer
- Laying concrete blocks for various structures
- Utilizing basic building tools and potentially learning traditional Tongan techniques
- Contributing to projects that enhance our lodge and facilities
Gardening:
Help us cultivate a vibrant and flourishing environment by assisting with:
- Planting new flowers, shrubs, and trees
- Weeding and maintaining garden beds
- Trimming plants and ensuring they are healthy
- Watering the gardens and surrounding green spaces to keep them lush and inviting
You’ll work for about 25 hours per week with weekends off.
Prior gardening experience is welcome but not necessary – a willingness to learn and contribute is what matters most!

Volunteer in Tonga – what we offer
We’ll provide you with a comfortable en-suite room that you’ll share with one or two other helpers. Rooms are set up with either a queen and a double bed, or three single beds, depending on what’s available when you arrive. And to make things easy, full board is included throughout your stay.
