Volunteering in the Loire Valley – requirements & tasks
My husband is an engineer and I am a french trained pastry chef, who have left city life in search of something slower and more meaningful. We started renovating the main house 2 years ago and also have 500m2 of outbuildings that we are slowly renovating piece by piece.
We’re also planning to start a vegetable garden and turning our property into a self sufficient homestead where we can welcome guests from all over the world to experience french cuisine and the french country life.
Your help is a way learn something new or do what enjoy what like to do.
The help we need consists of many tasks required for the maintenance and renovation. It changes every day. It can be in the garden, weeding, maintenance of green spaces: pruning, mowing grass, trimming, help painting and decorate rooms, clearing old stables, prep work for turning old barns, etc into habitable spaces. Our to-do list is never ending and there is always something to do.
Volunteering in the Loire Valley – what we offer
Our property is a real playground where you can choose what kind of tasks you want to do among the thousands tasks of the to do list. We can help you practice your French, show you how to shop at open air markets, visit nearby sites or simply converse over a french apèro, complete with local wine & cheese.
Our first rental cottage (50m2) will be for you to use. It is a oone-bedroomapartment that includes a fully equipped American-style kitchen that opens up onto the living space.
The bedroom is equipped with a queen-sized bed and has an en-suite bathroom. There is a sofa bed if you traveling with a friend and prefer separate sleeping quarters.
We offer a weekly allowance to enable you to buy food while you stay with us. We offer occasional family meals but are often not available during meal times to work schedules, so this allows you to purchase and cook your meals during your stay.
