Volunteer and travel for free in Portugal – requirements & tasks
We are a couple living 200 meters from the beach in a beautiful village near Lourinha, Portugal. We are both 30 years old and have an awesome, adventurous cat named Joey.
Help is needed with the general maintenance of the house:
January to April: Coastal living involves humid winters that require frequent upkeep, including tasks like cleaning, painting walls and metal railings, fixing furniture, and more. During February and March, we look for volunteers skilled in wall painting and home renovations. If you have a flair for art and love making a decorative impact, we invite you to join us!
April to October: With the rising numbers of tourists, surfers, and visiting friends and family, our guesthouse becomes a hive of activity. We need a dependable person to handle daily chores. Responsibilities include keeping bathrooms spotless, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and assisting with kitchen tasks. During this busy time, precision and cleanliness are crucial.
Autumn/Winter Months: These seasons focus on general upkeep and deep cleaning.
Caring for Joey: Our adventurous cat, Joey, needs walks twice a day, primarily in the mornings. Volunteers will receive training from us, and Joey will help guide them. We also occasionally foster kittens and need volunteers to help care for them, socializing and giving them love and attention. Cat lovers are essential; those with allergies should not apply.
We are looking for open-minded, creative, and responsible individuals who take initiative and have a strong work ethic. Volunteers over 21 are preferred for their reliability. As we follow a plant-based diet, a similar lifestyle is a plus. Please include the word “banana” in your introduction message to show you’ve read our profile.
Volunteer and travel for free in Portugal – what I offer
We provide volunteers with accommodation in one of our rooms, with the possibility of sharing it with a guest, friend, or family member during the summer months. Additionally, you’ll enjoy a breakfast and one additional meal. As we cook plant-based and love to cook, you are welcome to join us for meals.
