We are a caring and affectionate family aiming to support ourselves and nurture our lovely land. Join us and volunteer in Wales!
Volunteer in Wales and assist with land-based work – requirements & tasks
We reside in a picturesque rural area of Wales, just 10 minutes away from the Brecon Beacons. Our property spans 30 acres, primarily consisting of native woodland. The landscape features a serene lake and a small pasture field with breathtaking views of the mountains.
Our aim is to utilise organic, no-dig, permaculture techniques to cultivate food and sustain the landscape in an environmentally-friendly manner. There are various tasks related to woodland and land management, as well as indoor tasks for those less inclined towards outdoor work.
There is plenty of land-based work to be done, including:
– Planting up a polytunnel
– Caring for a new orchard of Welsh variety fruit trees
– Planting large areas with perennial vegetables and soft fruit
– Establishing an annual vegetable garden
– Propagating ground-cover plants
– Maintaining the ornamental garden of the B&B
– Managing the woodland and maintaining paths
Additionally:
– Converting a double-decker bus into accommodation
– Assisting with room changes and other tasks in the busy B&B
– Chopping firewood
We also aim to laugh, eat, and work together as much as possible.
One well trained dog is welcome. We have lambs on site and sheep all around us so the dog would need to be able to cope with that.
You will work for about 28 hours per week.
Volunteer in Wales and assist with land-based work – what we offer
Depending on the length of your stay and the season, you could stay in the B&B, my spare room, or a cozy camper-van. If you stay in the B&B or spare room, you will have access to our kitchen, while the caravan has its own.
We also will provide breakfast daily.
This part of Wales offers plenty of opportunities for exploration, and you’ll have ample time to discover its beauty. Additionally, you’re welcome to take walks in our 30-acre woodland and indulge in wild swimming in our lake if you fancy it. Your daily schedule is flexible to accommodate your preferences.
We look forward to welcoming you soon!
