Hi! My name’s Gabriela. As director of La Duna Ecology Center (Centro Ecológico) I find joy in sharing with others simple practices for sustainable living.
Learn about sustainability as a volunteer in Mexico – requirements & tasks
We are a retreat center immersed in the beauty of the Baja desert by the sea, near the city of La Paz in Baja California Sur, Mexico.
Would you love to spend time in the quietness of the desert, its amazing starry nights while you listen to the sea steps away, and the birds welcoming the amazing sunrises? Do you like to live sustainably and would like to learn practical ways to do it?
Then come and help us. In exchange for a tent with a mat and meals, we request at least 25 hrs a week of regular tasks, and additional help when we are hosting groups. Bring your own sleeping bag and towel, we are in a rustic setting where dry bathrooms and solar bags for showers are normal, community meals are prepared together; and workshops are available to our volunteers to experience eco arts, citizen science, and other educational practices.
We need help with different aspects of the retreat center: lodging hospitality, cleaning, kitchen help, organic gardens and forestry, maintenance and repairs, social media management and content creation on our blog.
We request a stay for at least 1 month, ideally 3, starting in October.

We provide a full board. We have limited rooms available for volunteers, first come first served, but we do have two full-size tents with comfortable mats available. All bathrooms are shared.
