Exchange help at a mountain resort during ski season in Japan

Dreaming of a snowy escape and a white Christmas in Japan? If you’re up for spending 3 months lending a hand at our lodge, we want to hear from you!

Exchange help for a stay in Japan – requirements & tasks

Looking for an unforgettable winter adventure in the heart of Japan’s stunning mountains? Join our team at our ski resort in the central Japanese Alps!

We’re looking for friendly, dedicated, and energetic people to help us create amazing memories for our guests. If you’re passionate about providing great service and ensuring everyone has a blast, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

Your responsibilities will involve clearing snow, preparing rooms and beds, helping guests, and serving food and drinks. A typical day involves:

  • Morning:
    • Snow clearing (3 people, ~30 mins)
    • Serving and cleaning up breakfast
    • Guests depart for skiing (~8-9 am)
    • Cleaning rooms, making beds, tidying lounges, prepping dinner
  • Midday:
    • Free time (~11 am onwards), often used for skiing/snowboarding
  • Afternoon/Evening:
    • Return from slopes (~3-4 pm)
    • Downtime until dinner prep
    • Serving drinks and dinner
    • Cleanup after dinner
    • Relaxation time

This schedule repeats daily. You’ll be compensated for any work over 5 hours. Expect a busier workload during peak holiday seasons (Christmas, New Year’s, Chinese New Year).

You’ll work for about 30 hours per week.

We’re looking for help from mid-December to mid-March, ideally people with working holiday visas. Experience with snow and a love for snow sports are a big plus, as is the ability to handle physically demanding tasks.

Feel free to ask if you have any questions!

Exchange help for a stay in Japan – what we offer

We provide shared dormitory-style accommodation for our staff, with managers enjoying their own private room. The dormitory is compact but comfortable, offering three single beds with curtains for privacy. Managers can choose between two single beds or a double bed in their room. All staff members share the ground floor shower facilities.

We also offer a ski pass and a half board.

You’ll need to make your own way to Iiyama Train Station, where I’ll be waiting to pick you up. You can fly into Narita Airport, then take a train to Tokyo or Ueno, followed by another train or bus to Iiyama. To help with your travel expenses, we offer a completion bonus of 20,000 yen at the end of the season.
