Help build a brighter future for the Karamojong people! We need volunteers to develop an eco-tourism center that will showcase their rich culture and create sustainable economic opportunities. Join us!

Volunteer work in Africa – requirements & tasks

Inspired by the legacy of Edward Lorika Athiyo, a respected leader in Karamoja and Uganda, the Edward Athiyo Foundation is dedicated to empowering the Karamojong people of Nakale. Through education, training, and cultural preservation initiatives, the foundation strives to create a brighter future for this beautiful community.

We’re seeking volunteers to help establish an eco-tourism center that will share the vibrant culture of the Karamojong people with the world.

As a volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Build eco-lodges: Use natural materials to create sustainable accommodations for visitors.
  • Develop nature trails: Design and build trails that showcase the stunning mountain landscapes and local communities.
  • Empower artisans: Share your skills in bead-making, carpentry, or other crafts to help locals generate income.
  • Promote sustainable agriculture: Teach organic farming methods and beekeeping practices to enhance food security.
  • Support economic growth: Provide training in preserving and packaging local products like cow ghee for market.

You will work for about 20 hours per week.
