Volunteer in Uganda & make a difference – requirements & tasks

Kalikwani Children’s Foundation is a newly founded non-profit organization based in Uganda, located in Kamuli Municipality, Southern Division, Busota Ward, Asadhawaire Cell. The foundation was started by my younger brother Jeremiah and me, following the loss of our parents when we were just 12 and 8 years old. With no clear path forward, we faced many difficulties and uncertainties. Our older brother Ivan sacrificed his education to support us, which became our motivation to help other children in similar situations.

Driven by our experiences, Jeremiah and I founded Kalikwani Children’s Foundation to provide support and opportunities for vulnerable children, teenagers, and those facing homelessness, aged 3-17. The foundation focuses on providing formal education and teaching essential life skills. We are currently looking for volunteers to help with community outreach, teaching, and skill-building activities, with the aim of offering hope and support to children in need.

You will work for about 25 hours per week with weekends off.

If you’re able to bring gifts, the children would greatly appreciate items like:

  • Books
  • Pens and pencils
  • Reams of paper
  • Shoes
  • School bags
  • Balls
  • Electronics (laptops, TVs, pianos, tablets)
  • Musical instruments
  • Or anything else you feel would be helpful

We’re excited to welcome you and are grateful for any support you can offer.

Additional information

Weather and Clothing

We have two main seasons: sunny and rainy. The rainy season can be chilly, so pack clothes that are suitable for both warm and cool weather. Comfortable, sturdy shoes are also essential for your daily activities.

Police Vetting

Before your placement, you must undergo a police background check in your home country. This is mandatory due to the nature of our work, which may involve interaction with children and/or vulnerable adults. We prioritize the safety and well-being of those we serve.

Volunteer in Uganda & make a difference – what we offer

We offer comfortable accommodations with a private room for each volunteer. Each room is equipped with a bed and mosquito net for a good night’s sleep.
