Volunteering in Canada on a farm – requirements & tasks
One of the main tasks will be the expansion of the main garden to twice its size. We want to facilitate more area dedicated to the plants that will grow in our northern climate. We offer farm machinery to expand the garden area, and then planting will be done by hand.
You will also help with the building of the pole shed which we need for the farm tractor and other equipment (such as the 1957 Jeep Willy’s truck).
Our homestead is located south of Dawson Creek BC and is surrounded by a majestic old forest. Beautiful area.
We combine homesteading methods blended with modern ideas and projects. We need help in our gardens and greenhouses with the growth of our own veggies and sprouts. Volunteers will also help with building new things on the property. There will be minimal animal care.
One project to complete this year is a high-end luxury outhouse with built-in wood heat and an attached shower room.
You will work for about 25 hours per week, with Friday, Saturday and Sunday off.
Volunteering in Canada on a farm – what we offer
We offer a double private room in a cosy guest cabin. It has internet access, some living amenities such as a kettle, microwave, bar fridge and water cooler and radiant heat.
We provide a full board. You will have access to bed linen and laundry facilities.
The surrounding area is great to see animals such as moose, elk and bear. We are a short distance drive to the Canadian Rocky Mountains with lots of lakes and rivers, dinosaur parks, rock climbing, fishing and boating opportunities. There is also a large aquatic centre with a water slide, steam room, sauna, whirlpool and rock climbing wall.
